It’s now Fall and I still haven’t quite adjusted to 80F in September. Not that I’m complaining AT ALL, but the change of seasons definitely has me missing Seattle lately. Not all parts Seattle… e.g. the rain, cold, icy roads, traffic. You get the gist. I miss my old neighborhoods, familiar streets, wearing sweaters and those truly-awful-but-so-damn-comfortable UGG boots, my favorite bars/sandwich place/mexican restaurant/[fill in the blank]. And of course, family and friends.
I miss the closeness you feel to everything at home. After moving to a new city I find that closeness is the “thing” I’m hoping to find in all of the new places I visit. I’m almost willing it into existence. Fifteen months isn’t really enough time to make anything yours, but you gotta start somewhere. We’ve found a small group of really great people to call friends, discovered some restaurants where we’ve established “the usual” orders, and Michael’s even got his regular coffee man for the morning latte. All in all, I think we’re finally making this city home.
BUT, something about Fall brings out the nostalgia. Maybe it’s because the years go by faster these days, and according to Costco and Macy’s it’s already almost Christmas!? Nostalgia and the holidays – – they go hand in hand. So here are a few favorite photos from my hometown~
